Llandrindod Transition would like to invite you to a Slow Sunday event on the 28th June at "Trosnant".   Trosnant was orignally built in the 1970s and has recently been extensively updated to achieve standards of insulation and energy efficiency which are close to Passivhaus standards.

Please arrive between 2.30pm and 3.00pm.   Nick will give an illustrated talk describing the work that has been done to the house at 3.00pm.   There will then be an opportunity for a guided tour round the house. We will have tea and refreshments at about 4.00pm.  Please bring cakes to share.

Trosnant has been extensively insulated, including fitting external insulation to walls, re-roofing and fitting floor insulation internally.  Air tightness has been significantly improved, and a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery has been installed.

The property uses room-sealed wood stoves as the primary heating source and has a glazed "winter garden" built on the south side, designed to provide solar gain.

Glazing areas have been reduced, particularly on the north side and there is triple glazing throughout.

The house has Solar Photo Voltaic and Thermal water heating systems, and a rainwater harvesting system with 5000 litre storage tank provides water for flushing toilets, garden watering and other uses where drinking water is not required.

The garden at Trosnant is being developed following permaculture principles, and you will be able to see work being done to establish a forest garden on much of the site.

There is parking for several cars at Trosnant.   Please go as far up the drive as possible.   Should we run out of parking space, please use the car park by the Old Grosvenor Stores.  Please do not park on the passing places or grass verges along Park Lane.
