A Car Share Club for Llandrindod?

Inspired by other successful schemes, the Transition Group is looking to set up a Car Share scheme in Llandrindod.

This is not a "lift sharing" scheme, but one where members of the club jointly own vehicles and share the running costs.

Clubs are usually set up by a group of local people as a not for profit organisation. In the UK, over 245,000 people are already car club members with access to more than 4,000 vehicles.

What would you get from club membership?

Car clubs provide their members with convenient access to vehicles without the hassles and expense of ownership (such as tax, MOT, fuel, servicing, repairs, depreciation and parking). 

Instead you "pay as you go" when you use a club vehicle with a cost based on how long you have the vehicle and how many miles you travel.

The club won't suit everyone, but if you currently own a vehicle and do less than 8,000 miles a year then switching to use a club vehicle when you need one can save you thousands of pounds every year!  Car clubs are particularly good for people who:
